Driving Tips for a Safe Halloween

The Halloween candy has been purchased and costumes have been picked out; it's time to have fun! On Halloween nights there are a lot more people walking on and off of sidewalks and roads, which makes it a dangerous time for pedestrians and drivers. If you have to drive this Halloween, follow these tips.

  • The normal speed limit in most neighborhoods is usually 25 miles per hour. However, on Halloween you should be extra careful and go at least 5 mph under the speed limit, especially if you're driving in a residential area.
  • Don't drive distracted. This is something that should be avoided whether or not it's Halloween, but because of the increase in foot traffic, your full attention needs to be on the road.
  • Don't drink and drive. This is another one that should be done at all times. But, with so many children on the road it's important so reiterate.
  • Use your lights at all times. This will allows others to see you more easily. You should even use them during the day for increased visibility.
